For example, the pages you visited, your device information and unique identifiers, network (Internet Protocol (IP)) address, any phone number used to call our customer service number, login data, your location, internet browser information, settings, clickstream to, through and from our site (including date and time), and cookie data

If you are or become a smart meter customer of Green Network Energy, we will collect information from the smart meter showing your energy usage data and billing information.  You will be able to access this information via the secure customer account portal.

Why we process personal data

We process this personal data collected to provide and maintain the highest possible quality products and services to our customers, including to:

  • Provide you, or permit selected third parties to provide you, with information on the opportunities to access better value energy and customer service, or for other energy savings and efficiency opportunities.
  • To allow us to take over your utility supply from your previous utility provider
  • To let you know how much energy you have used, and what charges will apply.
  • To update or maintain your account details or to communicate with you by letter, email or telephone.
  • To provide information about you and the services we provide you with to a new utility supplier should you indicate your wish to change your supplier. 
  • Carry out our legal and contractual obligations, and continuously improve the quality of our products and services.
  • Ensure content on our site is of interest, useful and presented in the most relevant manner to you and our other valued customers and the wider public.
  • Measure and understand the effectiveness of advertising and improve how we communicate.
  • Maintain and continuously improve security designed to prevent, deter, detect and manage unauthorised access and protect against errors, fraud, misuse and abuse of our site.
  • Administration of our site and for internal operations, including troubleshooting, data analytics, measurement, testing, research, statistical and survey purposes.
  • To search credit reference agencies for information about you and carry out checks to confirm your identity. If you give us false or inaccurate information we may pass your information to credit reference and fraud prevention agencies.

Combining personal data

  • Credit reference agencies for the purpose of assessing your credit score where this is a condition of us entering into a contract with you.

  • In the event that we sell or buy any business or assets, in which case we will disclose your personal data to the prospective seller or buyer of such business or assets.
  • If Green Network Energy Ltd or substantially all of its assets are acquired by a third party, in which case personal data held by it about its customers will be one of the transferred assets.

Where we store personal data

All personal data provided to us is processed using managed devices and equipment, and stored on our secure servers or the servers of our contracted partners in the UK. 

Where we have given you (or where you have chosen) a password which enables you to access certain parts of our site, you are responsible for keeping this password confidential and not to share with, or disclose to, anyone.
