Moving out

If you’re a GNE customer and you’re moving home, please tell us in your online account. You can fill out the 'Moving home' form from two days before your move and up to 30 days after.

To close your account, on the ‘Moving home’ form we’ll ask for:

  • Your move out date
  • Your new address or forwarding details (so we can forward your final bill and process any refunds on your account)

If possible, it would also be good to tell us:

  • The name of the new owner/occupier/person taking over responsibility for the supply, or;
  • The name and address of the landlord if you rent your home

Please also take a meter reading on the date you move out. We will use this to produce your final bill, which you will receive within four to six weeks. Do not cancel your Direct Debit until you've received your final bill. We will need it active so if there is credit on your account it can be refunded, and if there is a debit balance, we can collect it.

If you move out before the renewal period (last 49 days) of your fixed contract, we may apply exit fees depending on the terms of your contract. But if you register your new home with us within 30 days of your move, then we'll refund your new account with any exit fees you paid.
