Why does my bill show Climate Change Levy (CCL) and what does this stand for?
The Climate Change Levy is an environmental variable tax on your business electricity and gas consumption, revised by the government at the start of each tax year.
To encourage the reduction in greenhouse gas emission, as well as, to encourage businesses to use energy more efficiently. The CCL is charged on the units/kWh used and is index linked.
Businesses that meet the minimum requirements for monthly consumption are charged the reduced rate of VAT and don’t pay the CCL tax.
